Conley Varble
May 27, 1942 - February 7, 2006
It is sad to report that we’ve lost another of our local bluegrass legends when Conley Varble passed in an untimely manner while waiting for a heart transplant.
Varble was born in Harland County, Kentucky and as an adult played in several bluegrass bands in the region such as Glass City Grass, Salt Creek Bluegrass and Back in Time.
He owned the Bluegrass Corner Music Shop in Holland, Ohio for 24 years, retiring in 2001.
Conley helped to keep bluegrass music alive in the Toledo area throughout the lean years and he personally taught scores of people to play bluegrass music on the banjo and mandolin. He was a very talented musician and will be missed by those who admired him. |
